For Christmas, I bought my parents two boxes of premium Rainier cherries, costing over a hundred dollars. My younger sister, Bella, ate an entire box. No one said a word. I ate one small bowl, and immediately, my mother started muttering passive-aggressively in the kitchen. "You said you bought these to honor us, but here you are, stuffing your face without end." Usually, in moments like this, I would apologize and offer to go buy more. But today, I suddenly felt exhausted. I wanted to see what would happen if I didn't buy more. If I stopped being the "good daughter."
